  1. The Eiffel Tower, also known as the Iron Lady or la Dame de fer in French, is a famous tower located in the Champ de Mars in the city of Paris, France.
  2. Many people think French civil engineer Gustave Eiffel, known as Mr. Eiffel, designed the tower; however, it was Maurice Koechlin and Emile Nouguier who created the original design.
  3. The Eiffel Tower was the main exhibit of the 1889 Paris Exposition (or World’s Fair). It was a temporary structure designed to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution, supposed to stay only 20 years.
  4. The tower’s construction started on January 28, 1887, and took 2 years, 2 months, and 5 days to be completed.
  5. There is a small Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas and a small Statue of Liberty in Paris!
  6. There’s a secret apartment at the top of the Eiffel tower for Gustave Eiffel, and he often hosted notable guests like Thomas Edison.
